In this article, we concentrate in particular on judicial reviews relating to local authority duties to assess and plan care and support under the Care Act (CA) 2014, including the first substantive Court of Appeal case upholding the High Court's judgment in R (Davey) v Oxfordshire CC [2017] EWHC 354 (Admin), and a troubling application of that judgment by the local government and social care ombudsman (LGSCO). A Supreme Court judgment on the parameters of 'nursing care' in the context of the Funded Nursing Care contribution, and indications of increasing tension between local authorities and the NHS are also highlighted. ...
