General enquiries

Q Can you please provide me with legal advice?

Unfortunately LAG does not provide legal advice on individual cases, either on specific legal points or on questions of whether to proceed or instruct a solicitor.  LAG is here to promote access to justice through publications, training and policy work rather than individual casework.

In your area, free legal advice might be available from a Law Centre®, Citizens Advice Bureau or an independent advice centre. If you contact the local authority's information office at your nearest town hall, it will give you details of local agencies. If a local advice or Law Centre can only give you preliminary advice but your case needs further work, it will still be able to put you in touch with a suitable solicitor in your area. You may be able to receive free advice from the solicitor under the 'legal help' scheme if you qualify financially. When making an appointment with a solicitor, check whether you are eligible for free advice under the legal help scheme or, if not, how much they will charge for an initial interview.

Alternatively, you can find out the details of local solicitors and advice agencies through the legal aid section of the gov.uk website: https://www.gov.uk/legal-aid/how-to-claim.
